*Residents of Multifamily Assisted Housing Programs should consider requesting an income recertification with their property management as soon as possible. HUD assistance beneficiaries who have had a decrease in income may be entitled to a rent reduction or a hardship exemption effective the first month following the income loss.

Emergency Rental Assistance Program

For Residents falling behind on rent or utilities and who are at risk of eviction, they may quality for rental assistance through the Department of Treasury's Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP).

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's (CFPB) website includes information to help renters and landlords understand other resources to help navigate various financial hardships related to the pandemic.

Oakland's Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), using Federal emergency rental assistance funds, will provide financial assistance to owners of 100% Affordable Housing buildings and their low-income tenants impacted by COVID-19 to cover past rent due. Funding is provided to the property owners.

The application period opens April 1, 2021 and will now close April 30, 2021 or upon expenditure of funds. For more information, please click here.

Emergency Broadband Benefit

There is a new Emergency Broadband Benefit offered by the FCC, which subsidizes in-home internet access for low-income Americans, up to $50/month, discounts broadband services up to $75/mo for households on Tribal lands, and covers the costs of a device, up to $100, if a family contributes between $10 and $50.
